WINES FOR CHRISTMAS SEASON

Terre de Vins – terredevins.com – December 2022

« Calendau is the equivalent of the French first name Noël, which used to be given to a child born on Christmas Day. It is also a Provençal poem by Frédéric Mistral. This is the last vintage of Philippe Cambie, who passed away a year ago, in association with the winemaker Gilles Ferran, both oenologists. In love with terroirs such as Plan de Dieu and the Grenache and Mourvèdre grape varieties, they found 4.40 hectares of very old vines to vinify this confidential cuvée, given its very low yields. The small red fruits are subtly expressed in a silky and velvety way. The generous body whispers notes of leather, garrigue and zan on a long finish. It will accompany game, roast wild boar or venison with a Madeira sauce, for example. »
