2020: « The Softness »

The 2020 vintage is an elegant vintage, combining balance, freshness and juiciness.
This vintage is placed under the sign of precocity. Indeed, following an ideally rainy autumn and winter, winter and spring temperatures were very mild and led to early bud burst. The summer was dry and hot, marked by the mistral. Thanks to the altitude, our vines did not suffer from water stress and maturities were slow, allowing the vines to maintain good acidity and optimal sanitary conditions.
We started harvest on September 3rd for the Viogniers of “La Galopine” cuvée. The perfect maturities allowed us to harvest in a short time and thus finish on September 23rd, before the equinox storms. The grapes being concentrated, we have a slightly lower yield than normal.
In 2020, the “Scarabée Libéré” cuvée was born, the first of Madeline, daughter of Gilles and fourth generation of the estate. A blend of Grenache and Cinsault, without added sulfites, just like the vintage: a velvety touch on the palate, generous fruit, dense and complex carried by a beautiful freshness and fine tannins.
The whites and rosés are balanced, aromatic and round with a good length. For the reds, the Syrahs, very graphite, present melted tannins and an impressive color. The Grenaches offer a lot of elegance and roundness to the blend. Aging subtly marks the wines.
The 2020 vintage offers wines with crisp, tasty and flattering fruits and integrated tannins. The wines will age thanks to attractive acidities.
