Vintage 2023

Rare are the years when we release a Vin Doux Naturel Rosé. For the 80th anniversary of the Cru, this was the occasion. In very limited quantities, this vintage gave us a smooth, fresh and delicious wine, with an explosion of red fruit!

Vineyard

Single vineyard of old Grenache with clay-limestone soils, close to the winery in Rasteau. Vineyard called “Combe de l’Eoune”, elevated at 320m, produces perfectly over-ripe grapes while retaining their freshness.

Winemaking

The grapes are hand-picked, before sunrise to make the most of cool night-time temperatures, then sorted at the winery. Gentle pressing, cold- settling then the must goes into stainless tanks for fermentation at low temperature, until the expected sugar content is reached (density ~ 1040). Mutage with neutral wine alcohol. Early bottling to keep the fruit and freshness.

Tasting notes

Lovely pastel pink colour. The nose is fresh and delightful, with aromas of peony, crushed strawberry and grapefruit peel. The palate is smooth and fresh, with notes of red berries and fresh citrus.

Food pairing

Scallop tartare with Yuzu – Leek vinaigrette and red onion pickles – Goat’s cheese and butternut ravioli – Grilled mackerel with raw fennel, yoghurt and orange peel – Camembert de Bufflonne – White peach and lemon verbena sabayon.
