TASTING NOTES 2021 by Alistair Cooper

Cairanne rouge “Le Ventabren” 2021
Tasted blind. Strawberry fruit on the nose, raspberry and vanillin. A primary palate with good acidity and very taut and tight at the moment. Introverted but attractive red fruits that should shine through with time.

Rasteau rouge “Classique” 2021
Tasted blind. Baked plummy fruit, red fruits on the nose. A herbal snap – pepper, thyme and rosemary with chiselled chewy tannins on the mid palate. Good concentration of fruit and plenty of red fruits, liquorice and spice on the long finish.

Rasteau “Les Coteaux” 2021
Tasted blind. A raw primary nose, red fruits. On the palate there is a herbal, pepper and spiced note alongside firm and taut tannins. Might take some time to come together but there is a nice sense of energy here.

Rasteau rouge “Argilla ad Argillam” 2021
Tasted blind. Very introverted nose, red fruits. The palate is really tight at the moment but brimming with spiced red fruits, a sense of purity, the tannins are tight, structured and peppery. There is an elegance to the palate with finesse and energy throughout.

Rasteau rouge “Héritage 1924” 2021
Tasted blind. A smoky note alongside strawberry, earth and plums. Ripe and generous strawberry fruit on the palate – a broad mouthfeel with a slight coffee note on the finish. Layered and rich but with structure behind.
