LE GUIDE DES MEILLEURS VINS DE FRANCE 2025

La Revue du Vin de France

« Nestling on the heights of the Rasteau appellation, at an altitude of 340 metres, the estate cultivates 40 hectares of vines in several appellations: mainly Rasteau, but also Cairanne, Roaix and Villedieu. Gilles Ferran and his assisted by their daughter Madeline.

This estate, founded in 1953, is renowned for the quality of its wines, with their juicy fruit and superb texture, as well as their classy amber vins doux naturels de Rasteau. The whites, however, should not be overlooked, as they exude southern identity without being overly rich.

The wines: La Galopine is a white with legible aromas, with the imprint of Viognier (apricot, lily of the valley), but we prefer the depth and fleshiness of La Ponce. Roaix produces a fine Syrah in 2022, with notes of pepper and violets that reflect the cold terroir.

In Cairanne, we like the pure Grenache La Boutine for its fruitiness and its round, caressing structure, but Ventabren, difficult to access in its youth, has an energy and tannic power that will ensure it lasts longer.

A great success at Rasteau, with both wines showing more power, but still with good balance and length. The 2021 is a lovely, well-controlled, sapid wine; the 2022 is a model of Rasteau, with great density and a fine depth of juice, without any heaviness of style: this is the prerogative of an old vineyard. »
